Fans of the Naruto series have been patiently waiting for Masashi Kishimoto to return to writing manga. Kishimoto is one of the biggest mangaka of all time, and he’s written a series that’s stood the test of time. Naruto is a phenomenon that continues to stay popular even years after its conclusion, and even decades from now, it’ll be known as one of the best fictional stories in the whole world.
While Naruto is, undoubtedly, still popular, fans want Kishimoto to write more, especially now that he’s been away from Jump for almost a decade. Kishimoto’s recent comments suggest that he is willing to make a return to Jump.

After Naruto ended, all Kishimoto wanted was to get his well-deserved rest, and spend time with his family. Mangaka have it incredibly difficult, especially since they don’t get to spend as much time with their families as they’d like to. As such, Naruto’s conclusion allowed Kishimoto to spend some quality time with them. Since then, Kishimoto has wanted to return to Shonen Jump, and it seems that his plans are slowly developing.
Last year, Kishimoto went to Paris with Ikemoto, and there, he suggested that he wanted to start a new manga. Now, more comments from the interview are being made public, and it seems fans will indeed get a new manga from this legendary author.
For me, the most important things are taking care of my family, health, and perhaps a new manga. – Kishimoto

Kishimoto Wants To Explore Some Big Plans In His Next Manga
While it is unknown when Kishimoto will come out with his new manga, what fans know is that he is, at the very least, thinking about it. Here’s what Kishimoto had to say about his next series:
In the beginning of Naruto, there was a lot of emphasis placed on hard work beating out talent as told through the characters of Rock Lee, Guy, and Naruto himself. But afterwards, it was revealed that Naruto was the son of the Fourth Hokage. Did you never consider giving Naruto a normal background, rather than having him be born as the “chosen one”?
Kishimoto:
That’s a hard-hitting question, but it does get to the heart of the matter. At first, I wrote Naruto as a character who struggles with his impoverished upbringing. It’s something that we have in common. Coming straight out of a rural town, desperately wanting to be recognized, but unable to find anyone willing to give me a shot; I took those feelings that defined my childhood and entrusted them to Naruto. By doing that and by working on Naruto, I slowly but surely began to gain recognition and praise from people around the world. In time, that feeling of wanting to be recognized by others had already been satisfied, and I found myself having some difficulty continuing to write him. While I was struggling with that block, I thought that maybe there could be some avenues to explore with family lineage or blood ties. I also came to realize that the pressure of living up to expectations can also take a heavy toll on a person. So I took that shift in my own mindset and applied it to Naruto. I’d like to depict my conclusions regarding that idea in a manga someday, so please wait patiently for it.
When Will Kishimoto Return?
Along with this statement, Kishimoto also explicitly stated that with the support of the fans and the time he spends with his family, he will likely get the idea to return to Jump. By spending time with family and my fans, I feel like I’ll be able to muster up the motivation and energy to start another project, and maybe even discover something new along the way. For now, however, it seems too early to comment on when Kishimoto will return and what his next series will be about.
