Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound has been confirmed to offer a 60 FPS experience across all platforms, except the Nintendo Switch. Scheduled to release on July 31, 2025, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is a side-scrolling action platformer coming to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and the original Switch.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is the latest project from The Game Kitchen, the studio behind the highly rated Blasphemous games. It was first announced at The Game Awards in December 2024 and takes the 3D hack-and-slash series back to its retro-style 2D roots. Unlike the previous entries, Ragebound does not feature Ryu Hayabusa in the central role, instead opting to focus on new characters, namely Kenji Muzo and Kumori. Apart from current-gen and last-gen platforms, the game will also land on Xbox Game Pass on launch day.

By mixing old and new techniques, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is well on its way to delivering an exhilarating experience like only Ninja Gaiden can.
In a new announcement, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound publisher, Dotemu, revealed that the upcoming game will only support up to 30 FPS on Switch at launch. This frame-rate restriction will only be there in this particular port, as the side-scroller will provide 60 FPS on other platforms. On the bright side, the company also shared that Ragebound, which is set to be available for Switch 2 users via backwards compatibility, will “benefit” from the newly released hybrid console’s more powerful hardware. But, how exactly this performance gain would translate into the game was not touched upon. Dotemu further said that fans can expect information on post-launch updates for the game “as soon as possible.”
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound to Support Only 30 FPS on Switch
– The Switch version will average a 30 FPS experience at launch. – The game will be playable on Switch 2 through backward compatibility and will benefit from the console’s specs. – Other platforms (PC, Steam Deck, PlayStation 4 & 5, and Xbox Series X|S) will have a solid 60 FPS experience.

The Game Kitchen’s previous titles in the same genre, Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2, both mostly achieved a consistent 60 FPS performance on the Switch. Keeping that in mind, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound not offering a similar frame rate may seem disappointing to some Switch users. While the just-launched Switch 2 is supposed to run the pixel-graphics game better, even that isn’t officially confirmed to maintain a steady 60 FPS. However, Dotemu’s statement about post-launch updates does instill some hope for eventually getting improved frame rates on the Nintendo console in the future.
Notably, 2025 is a pivotal year for the Ninja Gaiden franchise, thanks to the calendar being packed with multiple releases. After receiving Ninja Gaiden 2 Black in January, fans can now be ready to play Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound. Later this year, Ninja Gaiden 4, the franchise’s first mainline game since 2012, will also roll out across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 21.
