The climax of the Elbaf arc of One Piece has been significant for the overarching lore of the series. Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has introduced countless intriguing elements, some of which tie to aspects like the Void Century, while others target unique Devil Fruits that exist in the world of One Piece. Among them is the Hito Hito no Mi, known to be one of the most versatile Devil Fruits with different variants.
The Hito Hito no Mi is quite easily one of the most unique fruit abilities Oda introduced in the story. While it made its debut early on with Chopper, it gained special importance when it was confirmed that the protagonist of the series, Monkey D. Luffy, held the Nika variant of this fruit. Following the awakening of the Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika, now, in Elbaf, Eiichiro Oda has confirmed the three strongest Hito Hito no Mi variants in the story so far, and it goes without saying that these are Devil Fruits with immense firepower.
Monkey D. Luffy’s Nika Fruit Is The Strongest Hito Hito no Mi Model

Introduced officially in One Piece Chapter 1044 on March 28, 2022, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #17, Monkey D. Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, is by far one of the strongest Devil Fruits. Initially, this Devil Fruit was introduced to us as the Gomu Gomu no Mi, but in the Wano Arc, it was officially confirmed that its true name, as well as its power, was hidden by the World Government in hopes that it would not be awakened. Following Luffy’s awakening of this Devil Fruit, Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, granted him a unique transformation called Gear 5 that turned him into the Sun God of the world. It also granted him a more rubbery body as well as a boost to all his physical attributes. More than that, it gave Luffy the ability to fight however he wills and do whatever he wants in battle, breaking even the laws of nature itself. In other words, Monkey D. Luffy is limited only by his own imagination, and that makes his Devil Fruit incredibly special.

As things stand, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, has had two users. The first of which is Joy Boy. Hundreds of years later, Monkey D. Luffy became the second user that this fruit chose, and it goes without saying that both its users are incredibly strong. Joy Boy was quite easily the strongest pirate in existence during his own age, which is officially termed the Second World, as confirmed in the Harley texts in One Piece Chapter 1138, on February 3, 2025. Meanwhile, Luffy is on the path to becoming the strongest pirate in the modern era. All of this is possible because of the incredible abilities of Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika.
Rain God Zaza And Daibutsu Form The Next Two Best Hito Hito no Mi Variants
The Elbaf arc of One Piece has also introduced us to other variants of this fruit. In One Piece Chapter 1182, released officially on May 10, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump issue #24, Eiichiro Oda introduced the concept of the Rain God Zaza. It is said that the Celestial Dragons fear three things the most, and they are the Sun God Nika, the people of the D, and finally, Rain God Zaza. Zaza is an incredibly dangerous God with tremendous power. It is said to bring forth rains and dump an immense amount of water on the heads of those who oppose it. Zaza is so strong that all Celestial Dragons have immense fear of it, which is why Saint Killingham gave rise to its MMA in One Piece Chapter 1182.

As expected, Rain God Zaza exists in the One Piece world through Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza. Unfortunately, we do not know if this Devil Fruit currently has a user or if it lies dormant somewhere, waiting for the perfect user to come and consume it. Regardless, the power of the Zaza Fruit is incredibly dangerous. Given that it controls rain, Zaza can essentially flood entire countries with ease. It also has a full body of water, which gives it a certain level of water manipulation and, with that, the ability to cancel out Devil Fruit abilities and completely destroy any users of such power. Rain God Zaza might just be a God rivaling Nika in terms of overall strength and, in many ways, even better. In the Final Saga of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda is certainly going to elaborate upon its powers.
Finally, there is the Mythical Zoan Daibutsu variant of the Hito Hito no Mi, which was officially unveiled to us in One Piece Chapter 571 on January 25, 2010, by none other than Sengoku. This Devil Fruit allows Sengoku to transform into a giant golden Buddha with the ability to produce massive shock waves from the palms of his hands. While not as impressive as the Nika or Zaza variant, it is still an incredibly powerful ability that allowed Sengoku to hold his own against the likes of Whitebeard in combat and, at the same time, earn the respect of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger.
Why More Hito Hito no Mi Will Be Introduced After Elbaf

If there is one thing that the Elbaf arc has officially confirmed to us, it is that there are many Gods that exist in the world of One Piece. As such, it goes without saying that Eiichiro Oda will introduce more variants of the Hito Hito no Mi in the future. In One Piece Chapter 287, released officially on August 11, 2003, we were introduced to the concept of the Sun God, Rain God, Forest God, and Earth God. So far, we have only seen the Sun God and the Rain God, which means that Hito Hito no Mi’s Forest God and Earth God variants are yet to make an appearance in the story.

With Eiichiro Oda having only scratched the surface of the Final Saga of One Piece, it is clear that these other Hito Hito no Mi variants are bound to be revealed later down the line. Given that these are all God variants, they will most certainly rank among the strongest abilities to exist in One Piece, and we as fans absolutely cannot wait to see that.
