This project was revealed to be a Second One Piece World Popularity Poll, something fans were eagerly waiting for. With such a massive poll taking place, fans are extremely excited to see who will top it. Last time in 2021, Luffy won by a large margin. However, this year’s results could be different, and Zoro could be the ultimate winner of this poll based on the current rankings, unless votes switch up.

How The Straw Hat Swordsman Pulled Ahead Of Luffy In The Polls

One Piece’s second global popularity poll started over a week ago. Fans from all around the world can vote for their favorite characters once a day. As expected, the three most popular characters even when divided by region have been Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, so far, the Straw Hat Pirates’ Monster Trio. However, with that being said, the rankings among them are somewhat different this time around.

Usually, fans anticipate Monkey D. Luffy to be the top one in every poll. Even now, 28 years since the beginning of One Piece, Luffy has simply never lost his number one spot in any poll, be it a global poll or the normal polls that were held in Japan. While the final results are nowhere near close to being out at the moment, fans can check the current top 5 of every region. In Japan, the results are definitely shocking. Japan, which makes up the largest majority of votes currently has Zoro as the number one character, ahead of Luffy. This has never been seen before and could push Zoro to victory, becoming the first One Piece character of all time to win ahead of Luffy in a popularity poll.

Roronoa Zoro is the swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates, and he’s always been incredibly popular, especially as he’s central to the vast. Ever since his debut in Romance Dawn, Zoro has found a lot of love from fans, and in that sense, his popularity is unsurprising. For the most part, Zoro is a more stoic character compared to the other Straw Hats, which appeals to many.

It seems that over the last few years, Zoro’s popularity has now risen and fans are rooting for him. Zoro also gets a lot of amazing action throughout the series, second only to Luffy. With that, Zoro has a chance to shine in almost every arc, which also adds to his popularity.

Why Luffy Can Still Beat Zoro

While it might seem that Zoro is about to have a historical win in the One Piece Second Global Popularity Poll, results are not yet set in stone and Luffy might still win. For now, fans need to remember that Zoro is only ahead of Luffy in a single region, which is Japan. In some regions, Zoro isn’t even second.

While Japan has the most votes overall, and its ballot votes are worth 10 online votes, Luffy is still winning in every other region. With all those votes accumulated, Luffy might still have the edge over him in overall votes. Furthermore, it might just be that Japan will flip its results around in the upcoming weeks and months. Luffy could overtake Zoro once again in Japan.

When Will The Poll Results Be Announced?

The One Piece Global Popularity Poll is still ongoing, and fans still have the chance to support their favorite characters. With that being said, the One Piece poll is still very far from being over. In fact, this might just be the longest One Piece poll ever and it is going to span over three months, from March 4 to June 11, 2026.

Fans will be able to discover who won the poll from the Monster Trio on One Piece Day, which will take place in August 2026. The wait is long, so fans who want their favorites to rank high up should vote every single day.
