Order/Chaos Contract Guide in Marathon

After completing the introductory contract for Mida, Gantry will give players the Order/Chaos contract in Marathon. This mission takes place on the Dire Marsh map and includes three objectives that must all be completed in a single run. If you fail to finish them before leaving the match, you will need to start the contract again. The game does not directly mark the objective locations during a run, but the contract descriptions provide clues about where you should go.

Triggering the alarms in the southern Complex and downloading the data in the southern Maintenance are usually the steps that confuse players the most. Fortunately, the walkthrough below explains how to complete every objective in the Order/Chaos contract and claim its rewards in Marathon.

How to Complete Order/Chaos Contract in Marathon

Triggering Alarm in South Complex

After loading into the map, open your map and mark Complex, then start moving toward that area. Since many other players will likely be attempting the same contract and the location is guarded by UESC enemies, it is a good idea to bring a Sponsored Kit. Doing so ensures that you do not lose your own gear if you get knocked out during the run.

Once you reach the Complex area, head to the south section and look for a yellow NuCaloric Agriculture building. Inside, you will find a red workstation that can be hacked. The hacking process only takes a few seconds, but you are completely vulnerable during the animation, so make sure the area is clear before interacting with it.

If you are playing in Trios, ask your teammates to cover both entrances while you perform the hack. This makes the step much safer and prevents enemy players from interrupting the objective.

Acquiring Security Commander Credentials

This is the shortest objective but often the most difficult. After the hacking sequence finishes, an aircraft will arrive, spawning two regular UESC soldiers along with a Security Commander.

Your goal is to eliminate the Commander and collect the Credentials it drops. Depending on the Runner Shell you are using, take advantage of your abilities to deal with the enemies quickly. Once the Security Commander is defeated, simply pick up the credentials from the ground to complete this step.

Downloading Data from Terminal in South Maintenance

For the final objective, you need to travel to South Maintenance, located in the southwest corner of the map. This can be a fairly long journey, so try to move along the southern edge of the map while avoiding other Runners whenever possible. After reaching the building, head to the south side, where you will find a small bench with a terminal placed on top. Interact with it to download the encrypted data, thereby completing the contract.

Extracting afterward is not required for the contract itself, but if you want additional XP from the run, you can open your map and head toward an available Exfil point.
