Here are some of the companies making headlines in midday trading. Aptiv — The supplier of automotive technology tanked 17% after management said the company would reduce its 2026 guidance. The midpoint for Aptiv’s revenue forecast is now around $12.7 billion, versus the prior guide’s midpoint of roughly $13 billion. NRG Energy — Shares tumbled almost 15% after the company reaffirmed its full-year guidance for adjusted earnings per share and adjusted EBITDA. Second quarter earnings disappointed, landing at $1.49 per share on an adjusted basis, while the FactSet consensus sought $1.69 per share. Semiconductor stocks — The VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) added 5% and headed for a fourth straight winning day as a couple of major players in the space prepared to issue results after the bell Tuesday. AMD gained 8%, while Astera Labs popped 11%. Both will report in the afternoon. Gartner — The IT consulting company jumped almost 18% on an earnings and revenue beat in the second quarter and a guidance raise for the full year. Gartner sees adjusted earnings for 2026 landing at $14 a share, versus its prior forecast for $13.25 per share and the FactSet consensus estimate of $13.69 per share. Zebra Technologies — The maker of barcode scanners surged 22% after boosting its guidance for the full year. Adjusted earnings are expected to range from $20.75 to $21.25 per share, up from the earlier call for $18.30 to $18.70 per share. The new forecast also beat the FactSet consensus call for $18.57. Second quarter results also beat estimates on the top and bottom lines. SpaceX — Elon Musk ‘s rocket company gained more than 6% as the company’s f irst quarterly report since its public market debut loomed. Earnings will be out after the bell on Tuesday. Analysts anticipate revenue of roughly $6.93 billion. Investors are also eyeing the expiration of key lockup provisions, set for Thursday. Artificial intelligence infrastructure — Shares of the companies in the AI infrastructure business rose after Reuters reported , citing people familiar, that the Trump administration is drafting a ban on Chinese data center components. Applied Optoelectronics surged 21%, while Coherent advanced 16% and Lumentum added nearly 10%. Fabrinet gained 18%. Amazon — The e-commerce and cloud services giant tumbled more than 2% after Jeff Bezos filed plans to sell about 15 million shares , valued at roughly $4.1 billion. News of the filing came after Amazon posted three straight winning days propelled by strong quarterly results and touched an all-time high on Monday. Memory stocks — Producers of memory chips saw their shares pop as the tech sector led the market rally. The Roundhill Memory ETF (DRAM) rose more than 7%. Sandisk jumped 10%, and Micron Technology gained nearly 8%. Seagate Technology advanced 3%. McDonald’s — Shares of the hamburger chain gained around 1% after McDonald’s posted earnings of $3.38 per share, on an adjusted basis, compared to the LSEG consensus of $3.32 per share. Revenue of $7.1 billion, on the other hand, missed the anticipated $7.13 billion. Palantir Technologies — The data analytics giant ripped 29% higher on blowout results for the second quarter that were powered by a nearly 150% surge in U.S. commercial revenue . Caterpillar — The industrial giant climbed about 6% after Caterpillar said it sees 2026 sales and revenue growth in the mid- to high-teens versus its earlier call for an increase in the low double digits. Second-quarter results beat analysts’ expectations, as the company earned an adjusted $8.17 per share on revenue of $20.54 billion. Analysts polled by LSEG expected a profit of $6.20 per share on revenue of $19.34 billion. Pfizer — The pharma giant gained 2% after posting second-quarter results that beat the Street. The company earned an adjusted 77 cents per share on revenue of $15.03 billion. Analysts polled by LSEG expected a profit of 68 cents per share on revenue of $14.41 billion. Pfizer also increased the low end of its full-year revenue outlook. Snap — The Snapchat parent rose more than 14% after it released results for the second quarter. Revenue of $1.6 billion beat an LSEG consensus estimate of $1.54 billion. Global daily active users and average revenue per user — key metrics for the company — also exceeded expectations . Whirlpool — Shares jumped 12% even after the kitchen appliance manufacturer posted a second-quarter loss that was larger than analysts anticipated. Whirlpool lost an adjusted 21 cents per share, while analysts polled by LSEG expected a loss of 5 cents per share. Revenue of $3.52 billion was also below expectations. On top of that, the company lowered its full-year earnings guidance. Wayfair — The furniture retailer surged almost 32% after Wayfair called for current quarter revenue growth in the high single digits. The FactSet consensus sought a 4.9% increase. Wayfair also posted second-quarter results that topped estimates, with earnings of 95 cents per share, excluding items, on revenue of $3.52 billion.
