As confirmed at the end of One Piece Chapter 1160, there will be no new chapter on September 21, and instead, fans will be faced with a delay. This can come off as saddening to some fans, especially as breaks are becoming more common.
When looking at what is currently happening in the manga, with Oda heading towards some major reveals for the God Valley incident, breaks are especially hard to deal with. It goes without saying that the God Valley Incident is something that fans have wanted to see for quite some time now. It has already begun, but One Piece chapter 1161 will continue it after it returns from a short break on September 28, 2025.

One Piece 1160 dropped on September 14 and was quite an exciting read for fans. But now, fans have to wait a while for the next chapter, One Piece 1161. One Piece 1161 was supposed to drop on September 21, 2025. However, that isn’t the case anymore.
The ending of chapter 1160 confirms that there is a break the week after. This means One Piece 1161 will drop the week after, on September 28, instead of September 21. It will also be the last chapter of September.

Oda has been taking many breaks recently, and fans are concerned. On average, Oda takes a break every three chapters, and that results in one to two breaks a month. This was not always the norm for One Piece and only really started happening over the last few years.
There are various reasons for One Piece breaks, but the main reason is Oda’s health. Oda needs to take breaks to recover from the intense work that is writing and illustrating One Piece on a weekly basis.
But even that aside, some breaks are outside of Oda’s control, such as Shueisha breaks, which happen every once in a while, like recently in August due to holidays.
One Piece Chapter 1159 will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12 AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on August 31. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1159 is September 7, 2025.
