Weekly Shonen Jump, Japan’s most famous manga publication, keeps the magic alive. As usual, a new issue was released on Monday, and this one is special. The reason is the publication of a new manga by one of the most beloved authors in Japan: Hideaki Sorachi. Creator of Gintama, he now presents Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz.
Although the magazine is published on Mondays, it can already be found in some convenience stores by early Sunday morning. When there are highly anticipated releases like this one, sales tend to be fast. The magazine doesn’t sell as much as it used to, since many readers have switched to digital formats, but it continues to be a fundamental pillar in the manga industry. The good news is that you don’t have to live in Japan to read it, as it’s available in English on Manga Plus.

Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz is Now Available
The cover of Shonen Jump in Japan features the title Brave Destroyers, but it seems that the official title adopted for its release on the Manga Plus app is Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz. With its first episode already available for you to read, it has become one of the most talked-about manga on the app.
The next chapter will be published in a week, on April 27th, so if you were thinking about starting a new shonen manga, this would be an ideal opportunity. But before continuing, you’ll want to know what Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz is about and whether the author offers a continuation of Gintama’s style or opts for a different shonen concept.

Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz tells the story of an intense battle in which the fate of the world rests in the hands of a hero. This hero defeated the Demon King and banished the darkness he had brought to the human world. After being defeated, the Demon King devises a final plan to try to win in the future. He sends a successor to Earth, a demon known as Valaris III, a clone with special powers and abilities.
Before the final battle, Valaris III is ordered by the Demon King to do whatever is necessary to bring darkness to the world. At that moment, Valaris III begins to escape to the human world and appears there from the most unexpected place: a toilet. Yes, it’s safe to say that Hideaki Sorachi is still Hideaki Sorachi.
Demons Who Go To Class and Fight Savagely
Hideaki Sorachi’s characteristic humor is all around Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz in a remarkable way, but this shouldn’t diminish the value of a manga that stands out for much more. The author has matured his drawing style, and the effort he has put into crafting each page is evident. He tries to convey a style that envelops the reader and makes them a part of an academy where nothing is as it seems.
Shinkai Academy suddenly finds itself with two new students. One of them is Akira Kumon, a mysterious student with glasses who seems more serious than one might imagine. The other is Valaris III, who has already been at the school for some time when Akira arrives. The encounter between the two will mark the beginning of the story and a path full of humor, action, and surprises.
Is it a Comedy Shonen Like Gintama?
We couldn’t directly compare it to Gintama, at least not yet. But it’s obvious that it’s a work by Hideaki Sorachi, and the author has a style and approach that is instantly recognizable. Throughout the first episode, it’s clear that the story has more depth than one might initially think and that it’s not all about absurd humor.
Of course, there is absurd humor and a lot of scatological humor. There are completely surreal references, but without reaching the extremes of Gintama. The two characters are reminiscent of some of Gintama’s most iconic characters, although with different personalities. The chemistry between them is excellent, and the way their unexpected relationship develops makes it interesting to read page after page.
Many of Hideaki Sorachi’s classic techniques remain prominent, from the occasional gorilla to action sequences reminiscent of some of Gintama’s best moments. The truth is, Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz is a manga we’ve been eagerly anticipating, because Shonen Jump needs manga like this to maintain its readership.
It’s not easy to launch a new manga of this scale, with a new story that could potentially lead to numerous collected volumes. But fans are confident that Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz will be a success, and, as usual, will soon receive an anime adaptation. For now, you can read it on Manga Plus and follow the conversation, as many users are sharing their opinions about this new manga. Master Sorachi is back.
