PlayStation fans have something exciting to look forward to, as Sony recently confirmed that the next State of Play showcase will be taking place soon. PlayStation State of Play events offer updates on anticipated games, but they also often have cool surprises in store. Not every State of Play showcase throws in surprise reveals, but the recent rumor mill has many anticipating that the company has a few secrets up its sleeve.

There’s not really any way to know for sure what games are going to be present at the next Sony State of Play, but there are a few key titles that are expected. Beyond the more obvious contenders, there are rumored projects and hoped-for remakes that have kept gamers buzzing about what summer announcements could be on the horizon. Summer has traditionally been one of the key seasons for reveals, and this upcoming State of Play hopefully continues this trend when the showcase airs on June 2 at 2 pm PT/ 5 pm ET.

These Games Being at Sony’s June State of Play Feels Like a Given

Marvel’s Wolverine (CONFIRMED)

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

Marathon Season 2

Kena: Scars of Kosmora

Horizon Hunters Gathering

These five titles feel like the most likely contenders to be featured during the State of Play. Marvel’s Wolverine is one of the biggest Sony exclusive releases planned for this year, and developer Insomniac showing more of it off has already been confirmed. Earlier this year, Insomniac finally confirmed a Marvel’s Wolverine release date, and eager gamers will hopefully get a deeper dive into the gameplay. 2026 actually brings a double dose of Marvel, just in different genres. Those who are more attached to the fighting genre have Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls to look forward to. With the stylish fighting title being scheduled for an August 6 release, seeing more from the game wouldn’t be surprising.

The main reason that Marathon feels like a given is that the game’s second season goes live on June 2, the same day as the State of Play. Marathon Season 2 is a big moment for the extraction shooter. Bungie’s long-awaited game hasn’t drawn as much attention as last year’s extraction shooter hit ARC Raiders, but this next chapter hopefully opens the door to more players.

Weeks of Rumors Could Finally Be Put to Rest With These Games

God of War’s Faye spin-off

Infamous remake

FromSoftware’s pirate game

Rumors about the next God of War game have been circulating for years now, but this year brought forth some fresh ones that claim the next game will actually be led by Faye. The rumors have claimed that Tyr will also play a part in the story, and other mythologies like Japanese and Mesoamerican pantheons might be featured. These have been really bold statements that don’t have much proof behind them, but it would be huge if Santa Monica Studio proved them to be true at the State of Play.

Two other recent rumors have piqued a lot of gamers’ interest. Claims that an Infamous remake is in the works and a secret FromSoftware pirate game could be on the way have been really compelling. FromSoftware currently has its Nintendo exclusive The Duskbloods lined up, but the rumored pirate game being a Sony exclusive wouldn’t be too surprising. Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne were Sony exclusives, so FromSoftware could easily strike a similar deal with a pirate game. That is, if the pirate game even exists.

These Games Being at June’s State of Play Might Be Pipe Dreams, But Nothing is Impossible

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Uncharted 5

Bloodborne remake

Silent Hill 1 remake

If any of these games are present at the State of Play, it’s more than likely going to be Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The only reason that it’s a little doubtful is that actor Kumail Nanjiani recently said in an interview that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’s release date won’t be until 2028 or later. He plays Colin Graves in the game, and while that doesn’t mean he has tons of intel on the release plans, it’s possible that he at least knows a general timeline. If the game doesn’t come out until 2028, revealing a second trailer this early might be getting too far ahead of things. It’s still completely possible that Nanjiani is wrong, and Naughty Dog could actually be eyeing a 2027 launch. That would make a new trailer at the State of Play more likely, but only time will tell.

Speaking of Naughty Dog, there have even been rumors that the developer has been working on Uncharted 5. Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson even went so far as to claim that Naughty Dog has been developing Uncharted 5 before the COVID-19 pandemic. If the studio has really been working on the project for that long, it could theoretically be revealed at the showcase. Fans should keep their expectations low, though.

A look at Bloober Team’s upcoming Silent Hill 1 remake or a Bloodborne remake announcement would also be pretty cool. The latter has been requested for a long time, but this one feels like the least likely to ever happen. A pitch for a Bloodborne remake by Bluepoint was even reportedly turned down by FromSoftware, so it doesn’t seem like that will be happening any time soon. A Silent Hill 1 remake teaser is way more feasible, though.

Xbox Could Have a Small Presence at This Sony-Focused Event

With Xbox’s new leadership, past plans to turn away exclusive Xbox games seem like they’re being backpedaled. However, there are a few titles that were confirmed for PS5 ports before Asha Sharma took over. Games like Fable and Halo: Campaign Evolved are two big Xbox franchises that are planning their PlayStation debuts. There is also a Forza Horizon 6 PS5 port on the way. The racing game skipped the PS5 at launch, but a port release date might be mentioned.

Xbox is having its own showcase on June 7.

There also hasn’t been any answer given to whether Gears of War: E-Day will be coming to PS5 or not. Since last year marked the first time the franchise came to Sony consoles with Gears of War: Reloaded, there are expectations for Gears of War: E-Day on PS5. As Xbox rethinks its strategy, a PS5 version may not end up happening.
