The Boys Just Reignited Supernatural Fever. A Game Could be the Cure the Fandom Needs
The Boys season 5 brings Supernatural stars back together. A game could reignite the passion and bring new fans to the franchise.
Beginning in 2019 and with 5 seasons, The Boys is quite possibly one of the biggest superhero adaptations and currently has other projects in the shared universe. In a world where superheroes, or Supes, are selfish and self-serving brutes, Hughie is roped into a scheme by Billy Butcher after the death of his lover at the hands of a Supe, where he aims to take Vought International and the Seven, seven of the strongest and most renowned Supes. The series’ extreme brutality and high-stakes action propelled it to take over social media in its first season, and while momentum has gradually faded, the latest season is receiving all the buzz as the finale to the battle between Homelander and Butcher comes to a close.
The Boys Comes To The Big Screens Soon
The finale, which is scheduled for streaming on May 20, will hit 4DX cinemas one day prior at 9.30 PM. This will be exclusive to the United States and Canada, with chains like AMC, Regal and Cineplex hosting the screening for a country-wide release. The 4DX cinemas, or four-dimensional experience, will enhance the viewing experience with practical effects such as strobe-lights, motion seats, scents and many more, and given that The Boys is widely praised for its gory visuals, it will definitely be a treat to experience this new technology. While most fans will not be able to enjoy the 60-minute episode in cinemas, Prime Video will release the episode shortly after.
This announcement is yet another proliferation of the trend where high-profile shows offer a limited-time release in cinemas, with the last major one being the Stranger Things finale, which earned more than $25 million for the finale. Others, such as Picard, Game of Thrones, Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, and The Last of Us, came to theaters for either their finales or pilot episodes. Given how this model can be successful for promotion or recouping investment, it will certainly be seen more and more in the coming years.
Homelander And Billy’s Stories Will Come To A Close
The Boys, while it has been constantly entertaining, has many plotlines to resolve in the coming episodes, so it will be interesting to see how they will be concluded. Most of all, the fate of the beloved yet hated antagonist, Homelander, as well as his counterpart, Butcher, remains the most exciting one yet. The TV adaptation has significantly changed a lot of things from the source material, so how it will all unfold is anyone’s guess.
