Nothing changed in our long-term trajectory, our pipeline is very strong, says Vertiv CEO

Vertiv CEO Gio Albertazzi dismissed concerns on Wednesday about the company’s latest earnings report.

“This is a temporary issue,” Albertazzi said on CNBC’s “Mad Money.” “Nothing has changed in the long term of our trajectory.”

Shares of Vertiv plunged 17% after the AI infrastructure provider reported mixed results. While earnings and revenue beat analyst expectations, Vertiv’s organic year-over-year revenue grew 17.8%, below the FactSet consensus of 23.6%. On the earnings call, Albertazzi attributed the shortfall to “timing shifts” caused by “multi-phased project execution and temporary supply chain dynamics,” rather than weaker customer demand.

Vertiv builds the power and cooling systems that keep large data centers, communication networks, and industrial plants running. Its central role in the AI buildout made the stock one of Wall Street’s biggest winners, with shares gaining roughly 42% in 2025 and another 27% in 2026, despite its post-earnings decline. But even before Wednesday’s 17% plunge, Vertiv and other AI infrastructure suppliers had come under pressure in recent weeks as investors questioned the pace of AI spending and rotated into other areas of the market.

Albertazzi said the effects of those timing issues should prove short-lived. He noted the company raised its full-year guidance as the delayed projects move forward, additional manufacturing capacity comes online, and the company’s backlog continues to build.

“What we’ve done with the rest of the year, taking our sales up, more than compensates this timing element in the second quarter,” he told CNBC’s Jim Cramer. “We believe that this is a timing issue … and we believe in a very strong second half.”

His confidence that the company will rebound is rooted in his belief that demand for AI computing capacity remains robust.

“The industry is very strong. Our pipelines are very, very strong,” he said. “We continue to be very, very optimistic about the future, and we have very strong backlog supporting that.”
