As amazing as it sounds to have superpowers, many stories in the anime medium have showcased how having supernatural abilities often comes with drawbacks. In the recent anime Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring, four humans granted the power to manifest one of the four seasons, called “Agents”, have their very lives controlled by their duties to their country. Hinagiku Kayo, the Agent of Spring, is the central protagonist of the narrative, a young woman whose powers led to her kidnapping about a decade ago. Following her disappearance, her country did not know spring for ages.
The lives of Hinagiku’s fellow Agents and those who work to protect them change forever when she finally returns home and brings back spring for everyone. However, those close to Hinagiku, especially her loyal Guard Sakura and childhood love Rosei, try to find their balance upon her return, haunted by their pasts. As for Hinagiku, though she is working on her recovery, the Agent of Spring still vows to help her people however she can. Recently, Hinagiku and Sakura have met the Agent of Summer and her elder sister, though a new threat appears to be afoot at their residence.
The Agent of Spring Continues Her Journey
Hinagiku and Sakura Find Their Place in the World
Unlike the real world, where the four seasons appear and depart as they should, the seasons in the world of Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring are commanded by select individuals, similar to the gods and goddesses in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. These demigod-like human beings, like any other person, have their own wishes and struggles, yet these must come second to their duties as the Agents of the Four Seasons. However, the lives of the current Agents are forever changed when the young Agent of Spring, Hinagiku Kayo, is kidnapped by enemy forces. It is only after a decade without spring that Hinagiku reappears and brings the season back to her home.
Understandably, Hinagiku is traumatized by her past, yet she still wishes to be someone that her people can rely on. In the meantime, her Guard and close friend Sakura Himedaka, also reflects on her own past, while the Agent of Winter, Rosei Kantsubaki, reflects on the childhood he shared with Hinagiku and his conflicting feelings. Though the story mainly revolves around Hinagiku and those especially close to her, Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring also looks into the lives of the other Agents, their Guards, and the narratives of those living in their home country. Like the creator’s previous work, Violet Evergarden, Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring is an emotional rollercoaster with great depth and gorgeous visuals.

Where Can Viewers Find the New Episode?
The Series Can Be Found on Crunchyroll
The first three episodes, as well as any upcoming ones, will be available to watch on Crunchyroll. As fans saw in the last episode, Hinagiku and Sakura are getting to know more about the lives of the other Agents, starting with Ruri. However, neither of them have seemingly ever seen the current Agent of Summer, only learning about her from the conversations they have with her sister Ayame. In spite of this, as audiences begin to understand by the end of the third episode, there is more to Ruri and Ayame’s past than meets the eye.
In the meantime, the audience learns more about how the world operates, and how Agents are chosen. For many Agents, they are forced to give up any chance of living a normal life, no matter what their dreams may be. As for Hinagiku, more of her past related to her reappearance is discovered, a history that still breaks Sakura’s heart years later. In the present, Hinagiku and Sakura must stick together as mysterious forces still haunt them, whether they be people from the Agency or enemies, new and old.
