Buckshot Roulette is coming to Xbox Game Pass day one in 2026. While its publisher, Critical Reflex, had already committed to bringing it to Microsoft’s subscription service, its Xbox Game Pass release was initially planned for this year.
Buckshot Roulette is part violent roguelite, part a macabre tabletop game. At its core, it was designed as a digital version of Russian Roulette, but with a twist: instead of a revolver, its participants use a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun. Buckshot Roulette was initially released for Windows and Linux in late 2023, having just celebrated its second anniversary on December 28. An Xbox Series X/S version was announced this February with a trailer that also confirmed its day-one arrival on Xbox Game Pass. A late 2025 release window was included at the end of the video.

Buckshot Roulette Is the 33rd Confirmed Xbox Game Pass Release for 2026
Buckshot Roulette’s Xbox Game Pass debut has now been postponed just as its originally announced Xbox release window was coming to a close. According to the latest official update, the console version is now targeting a 2026 release, marking the 33rd title confirmed to be coming to the subscription service next year. Development setbacks are the chief reason behind the delay. That’s according to Mike Klubnika, the sole Estonian developer behind the PC original, who says the team in charge of the console version “encountered some technical difficulties” as part of the porting efforts.
Buckshot Roulette’s Xbox Game Pass Release Possibly Coming in H1 2026
Klubnika suggested that his decision to use the Godot Engine for developing Buckshot Roulette did not exactly help the console port come together without a hitch, describing it as “quite a task.” While he did not elaborate, he said all the engine-related issues were “already dealt with,” with the work on the Xbox Series X/S version thus continuing without any additional setbacks. Typically, when a developer commits to a release window that only consists of a year just before that year is set to begin, that often signals their title is more likely to arrive in the second half of the stated year instead of the first. However, with Buckshot Roulette previously targeting a late 2025 launch and its developer now suggesting the technical challenges that sparked the delay are already in the past, a H1 2026 release may not be out of the question just yet.
Tackling console ports on Godot turned out to be quite a task. But it all was already dealt with, and we’re finally on the right track.

Buckshot Roulette
As is often the case with Xbox Game Pass titles that launch on PC before consoles, Buckshot Roulette won’t be coming to Microsoft’s subscription service until it’s available on both. This pattern was observed multiple times in 2025 alone, starting first with One Lonely Outpost and Mullet Madjack in March, and followed by Crime Scene Cleaner and Volcano Princess in April and June 2025, respectively.
The first two titles confirmed to be coming to Xbox Game Pass in 2026 are Mio: Memories in Orbit and Nova Roma. However, with both being late January releases, it’s all but certain that they will be preceded by multiple other games. The first wave of January 2026 catalog updates is expected to be formally revealed on or around January 6, based on the historical XGP announcement cadence.
