When Goku and Vegeta use the Potara Earrings to fuse, they become Vegito – one of the greatest warriors in anime and Dragon Ball history. Vegito was originally the strongest canon character in Dragon Ball before Akira Toriyama wrote Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Vegito has yet to reclaim his title, but his comeback in Dragon Ball Super’s Goku Black Saga at least proved he has what it takes to keep up with literal Gods.
Now that Vegito has unlocked Super Saiyan Blue, he’s stronger than ever – arguably too powerful for his own good, which is really something in Dragon Ball. There are very few characters in the series who rival Vegito, let alone are strong enough to actually fight him. Vegito’s greatest rivals are some of the most powerful warriors in the Dragon Ball franchise, and would be able to humble the fusion under the right circumstances.

Fused Zamasu Gave Vegito His Greatest Battle Yet
Fused Zamasu remains Vegito’s only canon opponent in Dragon Ball Super. Despite being immortal, Fused Zamasu gets absolutely pulverized by Vegito. While he puts up a decent fight in the Dragon Ball Super anime, Vegito just humiliates Zamasu page after page in the manga. Vegito is so strong, in fact, Zamasu starts fearing for himself – something a God who literally cannot die should not need to do. It’s even implied Vegito may have been able to kill him.
Unfortunately for Vegito, his God Ki is simply too much for the Potara Earrings to contain. Vegito ends up defusing seconds before his would-be-killing blow connects with Fused Zamasu, leaving Future Trunks to handle the final battle in the anime and Super Saiyan Blue Goku in the manga.

True Legendary Super Saiyan Broly Could Potentially Beat Vegito
Broly is one of the most powerful characters in the Dragon Ball franchise. According to Saikyo Jump, he even had the potential to defeat Gogeta Blue, but he couldn’t control his full power due to his fractured mental state. Even not fighting at his full power, Legendary Super Saiyan Broly gave Gogeta one hell of a fight. Broly outright makes Super Saiyan Gogeta flinch, forcing the already overpowered fusion to use Super Saiyan Blue to secure the win.
Broly has only gotten stronger since, so he’d easily be able to keep up with Vegito. Not only that, Broly now has access to True Legendary Super Saiyan: the ultimate version of his personal transformation. TLSSJ Broly would have been able to beat Gogeta in DBS: Broly, and could easily beat Goku Black Saga Vegito. A modern day Vegito would be a different story entirely, but considering Broly only grows stronger the longer he fights, Vegito could be in real danger.

Gohan Beast’s Full Power is Far Above the Rest of the Z-Fighters
At the end of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Gohan finally realized his full potential when he unlocked Beast. His Beast form offers him a level of power that exceeds even what Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta are capable of. Gohan Beast was so strong, he even forced Broly to trigger True Legendary Super Saiyan, which means he must be around the same level as Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta – if not stronger.
Gohan Beast is far and away the most powerful Z-Fighter right now. He killed Cell Max, knocked Goku out of Perfected Ultra Instinct, and didn’t slow down at all against True Legendary Super Saiyan Broly. If there’s any Z-Fighter who can keep up with Vegito or Gogeta, it’s Gohan. Due to Vegito’s time limit drain, Gohan might even be able to beat him assuming he doesn’t let himself get overwhelmed early in the fight.

Black Frieza is the Most Dangerous Being in Existence Right Now
Black Frieza is currently the most powerful mortal in the multiverse. After finding a Hyperbolic Time Chamber outside of Unvierse 7, Frieza trained for ten years and unlocked his new Black form. There are very few characters who can actually handle Frieza right now, including most of the Gods. There’s a real chance even some Angels are in danger now that Black Frieza is way more powerful than ever before – and even the Z-Fighters.
None of Dragon Ball’s main characters are strong enough to take on Black Frieza on their own, not even Gohan Beast. The only hope of beating Frieza the Z-Fighters have right now is either by letting Beerus handle the situation (if he even can), or for Goku and Vegeta to fuse into either Vegito or Gogeta. Vegito wouldn’t have much time to seal the deal, but assuming he moved fast enough, he could be the heroes’ only hope at actually killing Frieza.

Gogeta is Vegito, But Better
Although it’s implied the Potara Earrings offer a more complete and powerful fusion, it has a serious downside for mortals. The Potara is supposed to offer non-permanent fusions a one-hour time limit, but beings who are too powerful end up draining time away. This is exactly what happens to Vegito when he fights Merged Zamasu, defusing after only a few minutes. Despite being much stronger, Gogeta does not have this power.
Gogeta is able to keep his fusion active, even using Super Saiyan Blue and causing a dimension break. Since Vegito and Gogeta are two sides of the same coin, they rival each other in power. Vegito likely has greater raw strength, but Gogeta’s stability is far more useful in the long run and his feats are ultimately more impressive. If Vegito were able to train his time limit and consistently reach a full hour, Gogeta would never be able to beat him, though.

Beerus Might Not Be Able to Battle Vegito For a Full Hour
Whis has believed that Goku and Vegeta could stand a real chance against Beerus if they teamed up for virtually all of Dragon Ball Super, doubly so once they fuse together. It’s strongly implied in the Goku Black Saga that Super Saiyan Blue Vegito might actually be able to rival Beerus. If he didn’t then, he certainly does now that Goku has mastered Ultra Instinct and Vegeta has unlocked Ultra Ego.
A modern day Vegito would be boderline unstoppable. There is the matter of Vegito having a very short time limit, but Super Dragon Ball Heroes shows that it is possible for a Potara Fusion to adapt to their heightened power and still maintain more of their hour-long timer. It’s also possible that Vegito using a divine transformation, like Ultra Instinct, wouldn’t be as strenuous on the Potara as Super Saiyan Blue was with its excess God Ki.
