Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is the second part of the Boruto series, which is steadily taking the world of ninja towards its eventual destruction. In the midst of it all, Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha are two significantly important characters whom we are all eagerly waiting to see in action once again. At the end of Boruto Part 1, both Naruto and Sasuke were significantly nerfed in different ways. While Naruto was sealed by Kawaki, Sasuke Uchiha was revealed to have been turned into a tree by Code during the timeskip.
However, thanks to the new arc of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, which began officially on May 20, 2026, and continued with another chapter release on June 18, 2026, in V-Jump Issue #8, the return of these legendary figures is now closer than ever before. With the return of Naruto and Sasuke comes their greatest challenge ever since fighting Isshiki Otsutsuki 6 years ago, and that is to gain even greater strength and once again become relevant in the powerscaling of this highly competitive universe.
Boruto’s New Arc Officially Charts The Return Path Of Naruto And Sasuke
Boruto officially marked the conclusion of the Mamushi Arc on April 20, 2026, in V-Jump Issue #6, and in the subsequent month, on May 20, 2026, in V-Jump # 7, the series officially marked the beginning of a new arc. This month, on June 18, 2026, this new arc continued with another chapter. In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 35, it was officially confirmed that the new arc is going to throw a lot of focus on Hidari and his growing bond with Jura. As such, Shinju Hidari is officially set up to be the main villain of this new arc. With Hidari lined up as the main enemy, the return of Sasuke Uchiha is officially on the cards. The legendary Uchiha, who has been away from the Boruto series for over 3 years now, is only months away from returning.
“Mamushi has died. Driven by his instinct, he gave in to his desires and ended up burning out. Warped as it was, this, too, was a form of love.” — Jura confirms that Mamushi died in the New arc, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #35
As soon as Hidari falls, his Thorn Soul Bulb, which carries the essence of the user, will be taken by Boruto and Sarada, and then could potentially be used to free Sasuke Uchiha almost immediately. With the return of Sasuke, the pathway to the return of Naruto Uzumaki also opens up officially. This is something that we are eagerly waiting to see, because we have spent years in the absence of these legendary characters that we have grown up watching, and finally, they are going to play a significant role in the story once again.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Challenges Naruto And Sasuke To Gain New Strength Post-Return
While Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has already paved the way for the return of both Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha, an even bigger problem arises when taking into consideration that they are weaker than before. Both Naruto and Sasuke lost their Six Paths Powers in the battle against Isshiki Otsutsuki in Boruto Chapter 54 and 55, and are thus limited in terms of what they can do in combat. Even though their base strength seems to have improved drastically, Naruto and Sasuke need new sources of power, and this is going to be their biggest challenge in the new story.
Shikamaru: Naruto, you can’t maintain this transformation for long, can you?
Naruto: Don’t worry! My Sage Mode is much better than before. Call it a gift of wisdom.
— Naruto Uzumaki reveals his new power up to Sage Mode, Boruto Chapter #64
Sasuke Uchiha only has access to his Mangekyo Sharingan, and ideally, he would need something even stronger. Similarly, Naruto only has access to his Sage Mode, and he too would need a bigger upgrade to grow in strength even further. This is one of the biggest challenges Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has lined up for these massively important characters, and one that we will be glad to see them take on because it could only result in them growing even further in terms of strength.
Interestingly enough, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has already officially confirmed that Sasuke Uchiha is significantly stronger after the timeskip, despite having lost Six Paths Powers. This is because of his training with Boruto Uzumaki, and through Sasuke’s new power level, we can rest assured that Naruto will also return with an upgraded overall power level.
“During their training together to get stronger, Boruto and Sasuke’s main food sources were fish and wild birds, which they hunted using Raiton and Shuriken, along with wild plants and mushrooms.” — Mikio Ikemoto confirms Sasuke’s power up, Boruto Volume #8
That said, we would also absolutely love to see new weapons being added to their arsenal. For Naruto, a new connection to the Tailed Beasts of the world would be sensational to witness for all of us, or a new power gained through an altercation with Jura would also be enjoyable for us to watch. For Sasuke Uchiha, the abilities of Mangekyo Sharingan being taken to a whole new level, or perhaps contact with Orochimaru once again to gain further strength, would be quite exciting to see.

Why Naruto And Sasuke Will Become The Official Strongest Again
Regardless of which way creators Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto go about it, Naruto and Sasuke will return stronger than ever before in Two Blue Vortex, and that is something that we are eagerly waiting to see. At the end of the day, the enemies in the Boruto series are only getting stronger, and Konoha needs its best of the best to stand at the forefront and defend it. In that sense, Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha have a very important role to play in the Boruto series towards the end, and hopefully, they will have new abilities up their sleeves when the need arises.
“I am the Hokage of the Village. It is my responsibility to protect every single one of my people.” — Naruto Uzumaki explains his role to Kawaki, Boruto Chapter #65
For now, we are patiently waiting for the return of Sasuke Uchiha, who is the first in line to make a comeback in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex at the end of the Hidari arc. Following this arc, focus will once again be thrown on the Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki, and hopefully, his return is not going to be too far away. With that, Boruto is officially going to head into its final segment, where the battle between Boruto Uzumaki and Kawaki, which was officially teased in the epilogue on May 16, 2016, will finally take place.
