Alleged serial killer Rex Heuermann is expected to plead guilty at an April 8 court appearance, and admit to killing women and dumping their bodies near Gilgo Beach along with other locations on Long Island, according to a source familiar with the case.
Heuermann, 62, who is charged with killing seven women, has maintained his innocence since his arrest in Midtown Manhattan on July 13, 2023, for the slayings of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Amber Costello.
In January 2024, Heuermann was charged with the death of Maureen Brainard-Barnes.
He was later charged with three more killings — the 2003 death of Jessica Taylor, the 1993 murder of Sandra Costilla and the death of Valerie Mack, who he allegedly killed, dismembered and mutilated some time between Sept. 1 and Nov. 19, 2000.
Mack’s remains were tied with rope in a black plastic bag that was wrapped with duct tape, according to court papers. Both of her hands had been severed from her body and one of her legs was cut off, the documents said.
In 2010 and 2011, the bodies of 11 people were found on or near Gilgo Beach.
Messages left seeking comment from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and for Rex Heuermann’s lawyer, Michael Brown, were not immediately returned.
