Amtrak warned riders to expect delays on the Northeast Corridor line Tuesday morning, following torrential downpours and flooding in the New York region overnight.
“Due to heavy rain and weather-related impacts overnight, some train sets are arriving later than scheduled,” read an alert posted Tuesday Morning by the federal railroad. “As a result, NEC departures may experience delays this morning while equipment is prepared for service.”
Two express Acela trains serving the line between Boston and Washington D.C. — Nos. 2155 and 2172 — were canceled early this morning due to “equipment unavailability,” Amtrak said.
The Monday night downpour went viral on social media after the rain inundated the 28th St. station on the No. 1 subway train, causing major late-night delays.
By morning, service on the subway had resumed on a normal schedule.
