Cops stopped a driver for making a turn without signaling in the Bronx — and then ended up arresting him for murder for shooting a motorcyclist earlier in the day, NYPD officials said Tuesday.
Jose Kuilan was stopped by police when he made a right turn onto Hunt Ave. without turning on his blinkers, on Monday, police said.
Cops found narcotics in his car — and connected him to the fatal shooting of a 50-year-old man on Sagamore St. near Birchall Ave. in Bronxdale at 6 a.m. that morning.
Kuilan, 47, was charged with murder, manslaughter and gun possession as well as drug possession — and failure to signal.
The victim, whose name has not yet been released, had taken cover from the rain on his motorcycle under the elevated tracks for the Bronx Park East subway station when he was shot, friends said.
Seven 9mm shell casings were recovered at the scene, police said.
The victim, who died at the scene, lived nearby with his wife and worked in construction, A family friend, who gave her name only as Arlene, said, calling him a “good man.”
The suspect, who lives in Morningside Heights, has eight prior arrests, police said. It wasn’t clear what sparked the shooting.
Kuilan was awaiting arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court Tuesday.
