Order 6 of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach features the game’s first boss battle against a giant BT, giving you the perfect opportunity to put some of your new tools to the test. The previous Death Stranding 2 order introduced you to the concept of battling BTs, and it’s now time to take things to the extreme with an action-packed duel.
This mission begins immediately after completing Order 5 and entering the private room to rest. Sam can’t catch a break, though, because an alarm sounds, and a giant BT appears right outside the research lab as soon as he tries to take a breather. Thankfully, this boss battle is fairly straightforward and shouldn’t pose too much of a challenge if you bring the right equipment.

What to Bring for the Order 6 Giant BT Boss in Death Stranding 2
Since this is a boss battle, there’s no need to plan a route or anything like that. Instead, all of your prep time should go toward planning your loadout. You should bring one or two Blood Bags to heal at the very least, plus some Blood Grenades to deal some big damage to the giant BT boss waiting outside.
Because of the delivery you made in Order 5, MP bullets are now effective against BTs. That means you can just shoot them like any other enemy. Fabricate an Assault Rifle and stick it onto your tool rack for easy access. If you have any ladders, climbing anchors, or PCCs, store them for now. They’ll only weigh you down during the upcoming battle.
How to Beat the Order 6 Giant BT Boss in Death Stranding 2
The first giant BT boss in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach may look super intimidating, but it’s actually quite weak compared to some of the other BTs that Sam has dealt with.
The main thing to watch out for is movement; the arena is covered in tar that will slow you down and trip you up if you’re not careful. Stick to the floating cars and debris to keep your footing stable. If you fall down into the tar, there’s a good chance you won’t be able to get up in time to avoid the BT’s attacks. Keep an eye on your stamina meter, too, and drink water from your Canteen if you need to refill your energy.
The giant skull BT only has a few attacks that it will perform repeatedly throughout the fight. It’ll slam its tendrils down from above every now and then, so be ready to dodge to the side when that happens.
If you’re aiming with an Assault Rifle, you can press the X button to perform a dive that is perfect for dodging attacks like this.
The giant skull BT will also suck in a bunch of tar and debris periodically throughout the fight, so hold L2+R2 to keep your balance and try to get as far away from the monster as you can. Once it has sucked up enough stuff, it’ll disappear into the tar for a brief moment before reappearing and spitting everything back out at you. You need to stay on the move to avoid the incoming cars and debris.
You can damage the BT with MP bullets from an Assault Rifle or the tried-and-true Blood Grenades that you familiarized yourself with during the previous mission. Blood Grenades actually do a surprising amount of damage to the skull BT boss; the lingering clouds of bloody mist they leave behind will continually damage the creature as long as it’s sitting in the affected area. If you’re using an Assault Rifle, aim for the glowing parts of the BT inside of its skull. As you’d expect, the glowing parts are weak spots.
There’s a good chance you’ll run out of ammo or grenades during this boss battle, but other players have your back. Shadowy figures will emerge from the tar and offer you new Assault Rifles, Blood Grenades, and other items that will keep you on your feet. They can be easy to miss, though, so just look out for green text highlighting any gear on the ground.
Once you’ve defeated the giant BT boss, it will crystallize into a giant gold mass of Chiralium. After the cutscene ends, you can collect hundreds of Chiral Crystals.
That’s all there is to this job, so you are free to head back up to the research lab to complete Order 6 and continue with the main story of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. You’ll receive a bunch of likes and unlock your first vehicle for your efforts.
