The best way to earn XP is by completing quests (main quests, side quests, treasure hunts, and contracts). The lower the level you are compared to the recommended level of the quest, the more XP you will earn. If you are six levels higher than the quest’s level requirement, you will only get 5% of the total XP. You can also earn XP through combat, in which you will gain between 1 and 48 XP per kill, depending on the enemy’s level. So long as you’re not six or more levels above the enemy you kill, you’ll earn more than 1 XP.You will obtain XP for using Axii in dialogues, but it depends on the Delusion level of Axii:

Level 3: 40 XP
Clearing Monster Nests and Abandoned Sites will also reward around 120-170 XP.
