Summary
The T-Craft revealed in McFarlane Toys’ latest collection for the upcoming Superman film links to Mister Terrific.
James Gunn’s version of Mister Terrific uses the T-Craft as a creative upgrade to reinforce the character’s importance.
Fans hope the T-Craft becomes a recurring element in both Superman and future DC Universe projects.
Sometimes the brightest clues in film marketing are tucked not in trailers, but in toy collections…and the same can be said of James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film. One particular vehicle of a particular character, mundanely and briefly shown in the trailer, has now been given a full public view thanks to McFarlane Toys’ latest collectible wave.
Come July 11, Superman takes to the skies. Fans will get to witness on the big screen David Corenswet as the latest Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and a bunch of other superheroes, including Isabela Merced’s Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardener/Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific/Micheal Holt, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

This Particular Shot In Superman’s Second Trailer May Be Both Good and Bad News
There’s may be a cheeky reference in Superman to a popular Elseworlds film.
The T-Craft, a high-tech aircraft associated with Mister Terrific, briefly appeared in the Superman trailer, but only in a fleeting, zoomed-in shot that was easy to overlook. Now, thanks to McFarlane Toys’ unboxing of its latest Superman collectible wave, fans are getting their first clear look at the full design of this fanciful piece of technology. Packaged as a “Collect to Build” bonus item, the T-Craft is joined by new action figures of Mister Terrific himself, Ultraman, Metamorpho, Guy Gardner, and, of course, the Man of Steel.
Why Does Mister Terrific’s T-Craft Matter in Superman?
The T-Craft Has No Origin In DC Comics
Although sleek and resembling his signature orbs, Mister Terrific’s T-Craft is entirely a creation of James Gunn and is alien to the comics. The character traditionally fights and moves around (even to and in space) with his T-spheres—metallic orbs that he wields for offense, defense, and reconnaissance. A shot in the Superman trailer shows these balls projecting a force field that shields him from incoming fire. Giving a brand new toy to Mister Terrific reinforces the Gunn’s clear intention of making him the main supporting character in Superman. In late December 2024, the filmmaker stated:
I think it was just who I wanted to really, honestly. I love Mr. Terrific…Mister Terrific is the main character of those characters. He actually has a big part of the plot.
Despite lacking superpowers, Mister Terrific is a technological genius, often ranked as the third smartest person in the DC Universe—a title given by the Justice Society of America—following Batman and Lex Luthor. For fans familiar with Gunn’s past work, this creative upgrade comes as no surprise. He’s known for enhancing characters with original tech, such as Nebula’s arm cannon in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Bloodsport’s modular body armor in The Suicide Squad, and King Shark’s unique redesign. With the T-Craft now part of Mister Terrific’s cinematic toolkit, fans can only hope it’s not a one-off addition but a recurring element in both Superman and future DC Universe projects.
