One Piece Characters Who Flopped In Elbaf

The Elbaf arc has more than 40 chapters, which is enough time for most One Piece characters to show off their skills. However, the sheer number of characters can sometimes backfire, resulting in others not getting enough opportunities, which in turn makes them seem like a flop.

In other cases, there were other characters who were given enough screen time but were unable to prove their worth. Even though these individuals couldn’t make a mark, they can be thankful, as there are still more arcs to come. However, at the moment, they are still flops who didn’t make an impact in the Elbaf arc.

Usopp

Affiliation: Straw Hat Pirates

Haki: Yes

Devil Fruit: No

Usopp is the sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates, so he should be one of the stronger crew members, but that’s not the case. He is part of the Weak Trio along with Chopper and Nami. Since the Dressrosa arc, Usopp’s growth has stagnated, and he hasn’t been able to protect himself or his crewmates. Unfortunately, that’s been the case in the Elbaf arc as well.

The hero has been a passenger throughout the arc and failed to make a significant contribution. So, it won’t be an exaggeration to say that Usopp has been an utter failure. However, it is worth remembering that Usopp is being kept weak on purpose. Oda has stated several times that he wants to keep Usopp weak and similar to a regular human being in terms of strength. Hopefully, Oda will cut Usopp some slack and give him a new power-up so that he can compete against stronger opponents in the Final Saga.

Shepherd Sommers

Affiliation: World Government

Haki: Yes

Devil Fruit: Iba Iba no Mi

Shepherd Sommers is a Holy Knight who made his debut in the Elbaf arc. He was summoned by Shamrock and Gunko to carry out the plan of subjugating Elbaf and its denizens. Sommers was chosen because of his immensely powerful Iba Iba no Mi. The Devil Fruit granted him the power to create thorny vines at will, which he used to restrain his opponents.

Since Shepherd Sommers was ruthless, he wasted no time in torturing everyone around him. He even captured some of the Straw Hats but was stopped by Scopper Gaban. What’s surprising is that Sommers was beaten in a single hit. While he did have a decent amount of success, Sommers should have achieved much more with his level of strength.

Nami

Affiliation: Straw Hat Pirates

Nami is the navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates, meaning she is in charge of charting the crew’s next route. From the East Blue Saga, it is clear that Nami is excellent at her job. In fact, there is no other navigator in One Piece who is so good at their job. She can even predict the weather, which is unreal for a person.

Sadly, Nami didn’t get too many opportunities to shine in the Elbaf arc. She was way outclassed in terms of strength, so she couldn’t help her crew to deal with the threat of the Holy Knights. As things stand, Nami can be considered a flop, but there are still some chapters left for her to change things around.

Eustass Kid

Affiliation: Kid Pirates

Devil Fruit: Jiki Jiki no Mi

Eustass Kid is the captain of the Kid Pirates and one of the Supernovas. He has achieved a great deal of fame in a short time due to his ruthless nature. Unlike Luffy and Law, he does not care whether any innocent person is caught in the range of his attacks. In fact, Kid became infamous because of his callous attitude.

The last time that Kid was highly relevant was the Wano Country arc, in which he teamed up with Trafalgar Law to take down Big Mom. Following his success, Kid headed towards Elbaf to find the Man with the Burn Scar and get one step closer to the One Piece. Upon reaching the waters of Elbaf, Kid learned that Shanks and his fleet were in the vicinity. So, the young pirate readied a mighty attack to destroy the fleet. However, Shanks already foresaw the attack using Future Sight and defeated Kid before things could get out of hand. Not only was Kid crushed, but he also lost all the Road Poneglyphs in his possession.

Dorry and Brogy

Affiliation: Elbaf

Haki: Yes

Devil Fruit: No

If one were to make a case for Dorry and Brogy being the MVPs of the Egghead arc, it wouldn’t be ludicrous in the least. Their arrival on Egghead Island ensured that the Straw Hats survived the Buster Call, and they weren’t annihilated by the Five Elders. The duo’s efforts landed them an increased bounty as well. After their impressive showing in Egghead, it looked obvious that Dorry and Brogy would be the standout characters in Elbaf.

However, the reality was much different. The two did have a few moments, but nothing that would make them stars of the arc. They were ultimately turned into demons by Imu’s Domi Reversi, after which they began wreaking havoc in Elbaf.
