Some 60.5% of marketers say their organisation has an effectiveness skills gap – the biggest core marketing skills gap cited by Career & Salary Survey respondents.
Making the most of your allotted budget to drive impact and demonstrating to the organisation that marketing drives results are perhaps the two most important goals for any marketing team. Hence why so many marketers are interested in effectiveness.
Yet, data from Marketing Week’s exclusive 2025 Career & Salary Survey finds marketing effectiveness is the major core marketing skills gap. Three in five (60.5%) of the more than 3,500 respondents identified knowledge of marketing effectiveness as a skills gap within their business.
Interestingly, concerns about the marketing effectiveness skills gap are more prevalent among leaders, with 65.9% of CMOs/marketing directors/vice-presidents citing the skills gap. This opinion is shared by 61.5% of managerial level marketers and 51.9% of junior level marketers.
