Playtech has entered a strategic alliance with Spain-based MGA Industrial to co-develop a new series of land-based slot machines tailored for the Spanish gaming market. This collaboration brings together MGA Industrial’s decades of experience in the local gaming sector and Playtech’s extensive global technology capabilities.
The newly announced partnership will lead to the rollout of innovative slot machines in gaming halls, bingo venues, and casinos throughout Spain. The initiative reflects a focused effort to blend local expertise with international technological standards in an increasingly competitive land-based gaming environment.
Work on the slot machines is already underway. Technical and creative teams from both companies are actively collaborating to develop and customize the machines, with the first units expected to launch in the latter half of 2025.
Exclusive Content Tailored for Spanish Venues
The upcoming machines will feature a mix of exclusive games created specifically for the Spanish audience and localized versions of Playtech’s internationally recognized titles. MGA Industrial, which has nearly five decades of experience in the Spanish recreational gaming industry, will leverage its familiarity with the market’s regulatory frameworks and consumer behavior to help shape these offerings.
A spokesperson from MGA Industrial highlighted the strategic value of this cooperation, stating: “We are excited about this collaboration, which strengthens our position as a leader in product development for the in-person channel. Working with Playtech allows us to elevate our technological offering and look to the future with ambition.”
MGA Industrial is particularly known for its innovative approach to land-based gaming. The company has played a major role in introducing multiplayer games and roulette products in Spain’s ‘type B’ gaming halls, giving it an edge in designing content that resonates with local players.
Playtech’s Entry into Spain’s Land-Based Sector
Playtech, a global technology provider in the gaming sector, sees this partnership as a strategic move to expand its footprint in Spain’s in-person gaming market. The company, already prominent in digital gaming and multichannel services, now aims to translate that success into the land-based space.
“Spain is a strategic market for us, and having a partner like MGA Industrial gives us a unique opportunity to make a strong entrance into the land-based channel, with products designed from and for the local market,” Playtech said in a public statement.
This joint effort will also utilize Playtech’s advanced integration and customization tools to enhance game performance and adaptability from launch. These tools are expected to play a vital role in aligning international game mechanics with Spanish regulatory requirements and user expectations.
Playtech’s shares were down slightly on the day the partnership was announced, trading at 313.00 pence per share in London, a 1.42% dip. Despite the minor market reaction, the long-term outlook appears optimistic as both companies gear up for a second-half 2025 launch.
