Pokemon TCG fans may want to consider signing up for Walmart+, as subscribers will be getting early access to select drops, starting with the Pokemon TCG Phantasmal Flames collection. With Pokemon TCG sets in high demand, this may give interested buyers an opportunity to secure a set.
Pokemon TCG has been popular since it was introduced in the ’90s, but in recent years, demand for the cards has skyrocketed. Legitimate players and collectors have unfortunately often found it difficult to buy what they want to due to extreme demand, often generated by Pokemon TCG resellers who scoop up all the stock they can to sell at a higher price. Given the increased demand, players may want to take any boost to their chances they can get, and this may be such an opportunity.
Walmart+ Subscribers Get Early Chance at Pokemon TCG Sets
Walmart is running a Collector Con event, which has some unique offers involving toys, games, and more. Among these is the Pokemon Trading Card Game, and members of the Walmart+ subscription service can get early access to some of the upcoming releases. Specifically, Walmart+ subscribers can place their orders for the Pokemon TCG Phantasmal Flames Elite Trainer Box starting on October 9 at 7 am PT. Subscribers will also gain early access to Pokemon TCG Phantasmal Flames Booster Bundles, the Three-Booster Blister, and the Scarlet and Violet White Flare 3Pk Tech Sticker Collection on the same day.
Walmart+ is a subscription service similar to others offered by retailers like Amazon, with benefits like free shipping. Walmart+ costs $12.95 a month for the base plan, or $98 a year. The service does offer a free trial, but interested Pokemon fans should be aware that the early access feature isn’t available for trial subscribers. Further early access deals are planned for the service, as well as deals on the site during the upcoming Black Friday shopping season, so Pokemon TCG fans may be able to continue benefitting from it in the future.
While some fans may be able to take advantage of this opportunity, others are likely to be disappointed. With new Pokemon TCG releases already difficult for many buyers to find, locking the early access behind a subscription service may put them further out of reach of some fans who can’t justify the extra cost. It’s a complex issue to solve, if recent struggles are any indication. Stores that are well-versed in Pokemon demand like GameStop have nonetheless been forced to end pre-orders for Pokemon TCG cards, while even official Pokemon Centers have canceled in-store sales due to safety concerns from massive crowds.
