Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has hit another major sales milestone, crossing seven million copies sold globally. Building directly off the 2011 original, the sequel delivers a fast-paced mix of third-person gunplay and melee combat. In Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, players step into the role of Lieutenant Titus, a battle-worn Ultramarine tasked with tearing through threats across the galaxy using advanced weaponry and heavy armor to survive the brutal conflict.
Launched in September 2024, the game has held a strong presence since day one. From combat feedback to art direction, Space Marine 2 drew solid praise for how well it captured the signature tone of Games Workshop’s grimdark sci-fi universe. Much of that comes down to developer Saber Interactive’s continued work on the title post-launch. Regular content drops and meaningful patches have helped Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 stay relevant, while also giving both longtime fans and newcomers a reason to keep diving back in.

Warhammer 40K: Strongest Space Marine Chapters
Warhammer 40K has featured a number of space marine chapters, but among them, which are the most powerful?
On June 12, the Space Marine 2 team posted on Twitter, confirming the game had passed seven million players. The message thanked the community for sticking with the series, calling them “defenders of humanity” and showing appreciation for their commitment with a brief message of “courage and honor.” The milestone didn’t come out of nowhere – Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 had already hit 4.5 million players just one month after release. That steady momentum paints a clear picture: interest hasn’t dropped off, and the player base is still very much engaged. Reactions online were largely supportive, with fans congratulating the team, sharing their ongoing experiences, and pointing to how the game has become part of their nightly routine.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Hits 7 Million Sales
Earlier in the year, Microsoft revealed its list of the top 20 best-selling Xbox games of 2024, and Space Marine 2 earned a spot on that chart. Looking ahead, the next big content drop is set for June 26. That’s when Siege Mode arrives, bringing a new three-player co-op experience that pits squads of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 against relentless waves of Tyranid and Chaos enemies inside an Imperial fortress. Two new cosmetic DLC packs will also be included in that update, though they’ll only be available for those who picked up the Ultra or Gold Editions of the game.
That said, not every community request is making it into the game. There’s been plenty of discussion about expanding co-op party sizes, but Saber has made it clear that the cap will stay at three players for now. As for what’s next, publisher Focus Entertainment has confirmed that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 is officially in development, marking a clear sign that the studio plans to keep building on the franchise going forward.
