Players who want to vote will need to hurry. The first round of voting ends on December 2 at 6 PM PT. Participants can vote for up to 10 games in the first round. After the first round closes, the top 10 from that list will move on to the second round, where players can vote for five nominees. The final round will feature five games, with the one that receives the most votes becoming the winner.
The developer of Megabonk has excitedly announced the game’s nomination in the Players’ Voice category. It’s a second chance for the title, as a day after the initial 2025 Game Awards nominees were announced, the developer publically revealed that they would be withdrawing Megabonk from the competition. The dev called the initial nomination a “dream” and “honor,” but said that they had actually created other games, just under other studio names, so Megabonk isn’t truly a debut indie game for the dev. The dev has encouraged fans of the game to go and vote.
Whether Megabonk can win against many other massive games remains to be seen. Co-op hits like Peak, REPO, Helldivers 2, and ARC Raiders will likely come out swinging, not to mention major studio hits like Silent Hill F, Mario Kart World, Battlefield 6, and Doom: The Dark Ages. Game Awards record setter Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 could potentially take home the win as well. The game has now received 13 nominations across 11 categories, with three of those being in the Best Performance category alone. Given the overlap, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 can’t take home all 13, but fans are eager to see if it can sweep the categories it’s nominated for.
Whatever the results end up being, gamers won’t have to wait too much longer to see it for themselves. The Game Awards ceremony will be aired on December 11 starting at 4:30 PT/7:30 ET.
