Updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 are scarce, but fan immersion is key for Bethesda.
Bethesda aims for The Elder Scrolls 6 to redefine RPGs and open-world games for the current generation.
Speculation suggests The Elder Scrolls 6 may target next-gen consoles, possibly releasing as late as 2028.
Bethesda’s Todd Howard has given a brief update on The Elder Scrolls 6, the long-awaited follow-up to Skyrim that fans have been waiting well over a decade for. The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced at E3 2018 with a short teaser trailer that teased a potential Hammerfall setting, showed off the logo, and confirmed virtually nothing else about the game.
Updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 have been few and far between since then. We know that the Skyrim Grandma, Shirley Curry, will be an NPC in The Elder Scrolls 6, and we know that since Microsoft owns Bethesda, the game is most likely going to be a day one release on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Otherwise, there’s really nothing else all that concrete about The Elder Scrolls 6.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Can’t Cut Any Corners With This Key Feature
Skyrim set the bar for player immersion, and The Elder Scrolls 6 needs to go all out with this core feature if it hopes to set a new standard.
While fans are still waiting on a substantial reveal for The Elder Scrolls 6, Bethesda’s Todd Howard has reassured them that the project is still on the way. During the reveal of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, Howard said, “Obviously we’re working on the sixth chapter here, but what’s great about Elder Scrolls is being able to look back at all of the chapters. Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, Daggerfall, Arena. Each of them tried to define role-playing games and open world games for their generation.” This seems to suggest that Bethesda’s goal for The Elder Scrolls 6 is to deliver a game that seeks to “define role-playing games and open world games” for its generation.
Now the only question is which generation The Elder Scrolls 6 will be a part of. The Elder Scrolls 6 release date predictions suggest that the highly-anticipated game won’t be out until 2028. Considering this, it’s entirely possible that The Elder Scrolls 6 will not be released on the current generation of consoles and will instead be aiming for launch on the PlayStation 6 and the next-generation Xbox. This has yet to be confirmed, but fans should brace themselves for the possibility.

Even though The Elder Scrolls 6 release date is likely still years away, Bethesda fans should be kept plenty busy in the meantime. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered just shadow dropped, and rumor has it that Fallout 3 is getting the remaster treatment as well. A second season of the Fallout TV series is in production, and a new Starfield expansion is believed to be releasing later this year. Plus, Fallout 76 is still receiving substantial new updates.
