Summary
Jura in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex aims to kill Boruto while also after the Nine-Tails chakra originally in Naruto.
Shinju Clones are evolved from Claw Grimes, with each clone targeting specific individuals linked to their “template”.
Naruto and Hinata are sealed away in Boruto, likely absent for a while, sparking speculation about Naruto becoming a Shinju Clone.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is currently at one of the most exciting points of the story so far, as Boruto Uzumaki and Jura are in the midst of one of the most anticipated battles. Honestly, the battle between Boruto and Jura came earlier than many expected, but Boruto: Two Blue Vortex had been preparing fans for this confrontation.
Jura initially aimed to consume Naruto Uzumaki, but he also intends to kill Boruto, whom he calls “Boruto Otsutsuki” instead of Boruto Uzumaki, likely in reference to Boruto being essentially a pure Otsutsuki now — which actually makes Jura looks a lot like Kawaki. But why exactly is Jura after Naruto?

Boruto Uzumaki may finally have an amazing confrontation with Jura, but what should the series focus on in the next arc?
Who Are Jura and the Shinju Clones?
The Shinju Clones were introduced at the beginning of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. They are an evolved form of Claw Grimes, although they are also described as evolved forms of the Divine Trees. Earlier, Code used his Claw Mark in the Ten-Tails to create Claw Grimes: humanoid soldiers who are sentient and able to use the Rinnegan and also speak to some extent. They are considered a variant of the fission beings, smaller replicas of the Ten-Tails introduced in the Fourth Shinobi War.
However, for an unknown reason, the Claw Grimes consume people, absorbing them into small trees (like mini Divine Trees), and giving birth to the Shinju Clones, also known as Human God Trees. The absorbed person remains sealed within the tree, while the Shinju Clones acquire self-awareness, retaining a few traits and the chakra signature of the original person. Every Shinju Clone was created after a Claw Grime consumed a shinobi, except for Jura. The remains of the Ten-Tails eventually became Jura, though it is unclear exactly how this happened. In this sense, Jura is the reincarnation of the Ten-Tails, and the most dangerous sentient Divine Tree, as well as their leader. Although the Human God Trees are indirectly creations of Code, they consider themselves stronger and more evolved than him and follow Jura instead.
Jura Is Not Exactly After Naruto
In addition to being created from a “human template,” each Shinju clone has a target related to their template. For example, Hidari, who absorbed Sasuke Uchiha, is after Sarada Uchiha; and Ryu, who absorbed Shinki, is after his adoptive father, Gaara. Following this logic, since Jura’s “template” is a Tailed Beast, it would be natural for him to be after Naruto Uzumaki, because Naruto has the Nine-Tails chakra. However, his search eventually led him to Himawari Uzumaki, who is the current Jinchuriki of Kurama — Himawari didn’t know she possessed the Nine-Tails chakra until that point. Once Jura realized that she had the Nine-Tails’ chakra, he changed his immediate target to her. Still, he could be after both of them because Naruto has had the chakra of other Tailed Beasts since the war.
There you are… Ohtsutsuki Boruto.
— Jura in Boruto TBV Chapter 21
The exact reason why Jura is after Naruto, Himawari and/or the Nine-Tails is not entirely clear, but he wants to consume them to understand what’s going on. While the Divine Trees are self-aware, they also don’t understand how they were created or what is happening. It also seems as if their targets were “imprinted” on them. The Shinju Clones themselves probably don’t understand why they want to consume these people, but they hope to understand once they have done so.
Where Is Naruto in Boruto Two Blue Vortex?
Naruto and Hinata Uzumaki are currently sealed away, so they will likely be absent from Boruto: Two Blue Vortex for a while. Kawaki sealed them in the final chapters of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, and although two years have passed, they are not aging while sealed.
Could Naruto Be Turned Into a Shinju Clone?
Although anything can happen in the story, most readers don’t believe Naruto will become a Shinju clone. There’s a chance that he will only return after this arc concludes, so he may not even meet a Shinju clone. However, it would be interesting to see a Shinju clone with Naruto’s chakra signature.
