Wild New Space Marine 2 Mod Adds 12-Player Co-Op

A wild new Space Marine 2 mod has added 12-player co-op to the already chaotic third-person shooter. Space Marine 2 usually only supports three-player co-op, so this latest mod is a massive increase in the game’s player count.

Since the launch of Space Marine 2, talented modders have worked to improve the game with their own unique ideas. Although mods for the game were banned for public online play back in November 2024, developer Saber Interactive still supports the use of mods in private matches, only disabling them for the purpose of server stability in public matches. There have been tons of great mods for the game since its release, with one Space Marine 2 mod even adding Thomas the Tank Engine to the game.

As reported by IGN, a new Space Marine 2 mod by creator Warhammer Workshop has been released, which adds 12-player co-op to the third-person shooter. Speaking to IGN, Warhammer Workshop credited support from developer Saber Interactive for making this Space Marine 2 mod possible, stating, “I’m just kind of in awe of Saber’s support for the modding community. None of us expected 12-player PvE sessions to be possible this soon – but somehow, here we are. Thanks to their generosity and trust, this huge leap forward is finally here, and it completely changes what we can do.”

This Chaotic 12-Player Space Marine 2 Mod Makes the Game Even Crazier

As Space Marine 2 is balanced around three-player co-op, having 12 players in the server will be very unbalanced for regular gameplay. However, according to Warhammer Workshop, the plan is to create new modes, including Prop Hunt, PvP gameplay inside Space Marine 2 Operations, and raid missions “with bosses that hit like trucks, take proper teamwork to bring down, as well as some other completely new mechanics.” This will allow the 12-player co-op mod to serve as a base for even more exciting things to come.

The success of Space Marine 2 last year has meant that developer Saber Interactive hasn’t wasted any time getting to work on a sequel. Earlier this year, Space Marine 3 was announced, although specific details about the game are currently under wraps. Considering the 13-year gap between the original Space Marine and its 2024 sequel, it’s safe to say that players won’t have to wait that long for a third installment.
