Xbox Game Pass Adds Ridiculous 2025 Game Unlike Anything Else

Xbox Game Pass subscribers across three membership tiers now have access to Date Everything. The one-of-a-kind dating sim joins Microsoft’s subscription service as its 124th addition in 2026, arriving alongside two previously released titles that have now reached the Xbox Game Pass Premium tier.

Date Everything is a well-reviewed game with a rather self-explanatory title. Individually, none of its elements are unprecedented; it is officially marketed as a “sandbox dating sim,” which is a concept that was previously explored in indie games like Song Of The Prairie and Island Notes. Dating inanimate objects is also not a new premise, although it is still largely untested in commercial products. In recent history, the concept appeared in Lockdown Lovers, a 2020 Itch.io game jam project that parodied the COVID-19 lockdown. What makes Date Everything stand out is its execution and scale: it features 100 fully voiced, dateable characters and extends the idea beyond inanimate objects to dating even abstract concepts such as existential dread.

Originally released in June 2025, Date Everything joined Xbox Game Pass on August 11, 2026. It is available to both Ultimate- and Premium-tier subscribers, as well as PC Game Pass users. This arrival is particularly notable from a catalog variety perspective, as Date Everything is currently the only dating sim on the subscription service. The genre itself already had some Xbox Game Pass representation with Boyfriend Dungeon and Hatoful Boyfriend, but both of those titles are long gone from Microsoft’s content library as of August 2026.

The 12-Month Psychological Barrier Is Now Officially Broken

Date Everything is only one-third of the August 11 catalog update, which also includes Bounty Star and Grounded 2 expanding their reach to Xbox Game Pass Premium. Grounded 2 is an unprecedented arrival in the sense of how long it took to get to the middle tier of the service. The early access game originally debuted on July 29, 2025, meaning more than a year passed between its XGP Ultimate and Premium releases. When Microsoft introduced the lower tier, then called Standard, in 2024, one insider reported that most day-one releases from first-party studios would take up to a year to trickle down from Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The exact phrasing was “between six and 12 months and sometimes longer,” and Grounded 2 is the first game to fall into that “longer” category.

Upcoming Xbox Game Pass Games with Confirmed Release Dates

Date Everything is only the second brand-new addition from the Xbox Game Pass Wave 1 lineup for August 2026. It will be followed by Sandustry and Cricket 26 on August 13, then Grave Seasons on August 14.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is already confirmed for August 27, but it almost certainly won’t be the first arrival after Grave Seasons. The full Wave 2 lineup for the month will most likely be officially announced on August 18, based on PR patterns Microsoft has established throughout the 2020s.
