Battlefield 6 Shouldn’t Miss the Chance to Introduce This New Vehicle to the Mix

Summary

Battlefield 6 may introduce submarines for warfare on water, potentially changing the large-scale gunplay dynamic.

EA CEO hints at a pivotal change for the franchise, signaling significant pre-launch hype for the forthcoming game.

Submarines offer tactical advantages, such as launching missiles, and could enhance gameplay with potential enemy submarine encounters.

The Battlefield franchise may have long lost its former glory with the onset of earlier installments, but that doesn’t mean fans are not excited about what EA has in store for the series next. Battlefield 6 is now on the watchlist of many FPS players, and there’s one potential new feature that can up the ante even more. While unfounded in previous iterations, the upcoming game in the series can greatly benefit from the addition of a new vehicle type that operates neither on land nor in the sky.

The next Battlefield game can employ submarines to take combat to another level, especially on maps that feature water. The franchise has always been recognized as the first-person shooter that handles large-scale gunplay, thanks to colossal-sized maps that sport warfare on multiple planes with tanks, artillery vehicles, fighter jets, and more. Along those lines, the added expanse of a submarine comes across as fairly doable for Battlefield 6, considering that the baseline for it is already there in the form of the sizable maps that earlier titles have featured.

Some of the creative decisions for Battlefield Labs’ playtesting have been divisive, although now is the perfect time to get them out of the way.

Submarines Seeping Their Way Into Battlefield 6 Isn’t Asking a Lot

The addition of submarines in Battlefield 6 may not be as far off a possibility as one may think. Addressing the press in an earnings report at the beginning of May, EA CEO Andrew Wilson explicitly stated that the forthcoming title will be a “pivotal step in delivering on our next generation of blockbuster entertainment.” Considering that it’s been 4 years since any Battlefield game came out, it’s safe to say that the pre-launch hype for the game is significant, and EA could be looking to make a solid comeback with it after Battlefield 2042’s lackluster launch.

Of course, that means going above and beyond what the developer has been putting out in recent times, so the likelihood of submarines becoming a part of Battlefield 6 isn’t way off. It’s worth noting that Battlefield 2042 does not feature naval warfare outside of small-scale boats that are mainly intended for transportation, so this could possibly be a huge change for the upcoming title. So far, Battlefield 6’s leaked alpha gameplay has shown no signs of submarine inclusion.

The interesting part about submarines is that these vehicles could offer a tactical edge on the battlefield in-game, allowing players to not only survey enemy bases but also launch missiles from within the waters to take out heaps of opposing forces at once. Of course, players would also have to contend with enemy submarines in the process, making for a fairly promising venture with future updates and features. Combine that with Battlefield’s destruction mechanic, and there’s a lot to be excited about here.

EA Will Reveal The Future Of Battlefield This Summer

EA has plans to unveil Battlefield 6 later this year in the summertime, with the full release scheduled for 2026. That’s plenty of time for the shooter to undergo tweaks and refinement, especially with the onset of Battlefield Labs — the biggest playtest platform in the franchise’s history. Invites have already been sent out to certain players for the initial experience, so EA could put together some genuine feedback and polish the shooter to near perfection before launch, hopefully.

Although some new details of the upcoming Battlefield have already been shared, more information is undoubtedly on the way. Here’s to hoping that submarines become a part of all that EA is cooking up for the franchise next.
