Developer Battlefield Studios has officially revealed the Season 2 roadmap for Battlefield 6 ahead of the content update’s release on February 17. The next season of Battlefield 6 and Battlefield REDSEC will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in just a few days’ time, and it looks like fans have plenty to look forward to, as the official roadmap reveals tons of new weapons, limited-time modes, maps, general improvements, and much more.

After extending the game’s first season by an additional 4 weeks, fans have been eager to see what developer Battlefield Studios has been cooking for the shooter’s next major content update. Late last month, the team made the disappointing announcement that it had delayed the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 2, citing additional time needed to develop and refine the next season in response to community feedback. Season 1 was then extended with a new update that saw the addition of new weekly challenges, a new Bonus Path, and a continuation of the Season 1 Battle Pass. But with players patiently waiting to check out some new content, the studio has now revealed what to expect from Season 2.

Battlefield 6 Season 2 Roadmap Revealed

battlefield 6 season 2 roadmap

Following an unfortunate leak that saw the premature reveal of new Battlefield 6 maps for Season 2 late last month, Battlefield Studios and publisher EA have now made things more official with the official roadmap for the shooter’s second season, which launches on February 17. Battlefield 6 fans can look forward to a new map known as Contaminated, which is set at a German airbase in the European mountainside. Featuring rocky terrain, Contaminated falls between Eastwood and Mirak Valley in terms of size and is comparable to classic Battlefield maps such as St. Quentin Scar from Battlefield 1 or Arras from Battlefield 5.

Season 2 will also see the debut of VL-7 Strike, a new limited-time event that will see clouds of a new psychoactive smoke infiltrate various areas in Multiplayer for a limited time, which is a result of NATO’s attack against Pax Armata. Battlefield Studios says the VL-7 smoke does not do any damage to players, but it does induce a hallucinatory effect that will make any soldier second-guess charging into it without a mask, allowing for unique strategic decisions that create new paths to victory. VL-7 Strike will be a limited-time event that will receive its own dedicated playlist, which will also feature the game’s newest map, Contaminated.

For those who are fans of Battlefield 6’s free-to-play Battle Royale title, REDSEC, Season 2 will introduce plenty of new content to check out. The aforementioned VL-7 psychoactive smoke will also be making its way to REDSEC as part of two new limited-time game modes: Gauntlet Altered State and Synthesis. The former of the two is a cutthroat, knockout-style elimination mode with new smoke features where squads need to race to complete missions whilst navigating the disorientating effects. As for Synthesis, this Battle Royale mode will give players the ability to find or earn the new VL-7 Strike Package, which is similar to calling in a smoke or mortar strike. Battlefield Studios says VL-7 smoke may seep out of specific areas where synthesis went awry, and that these leaks are tied to high-value loot.

Outside of new content, Season 2 will also introduce some pretty significant improvements and fixes to Battlefield 6. The studio says that recoil compensation has been made fully consistent, resulting in more predictable and reliable weapon handling, and soldier movementhas been improved to feel more predictable and readable in fast-paced combat. There will also be changes to audio, as the team says it has improved clarity and reliability during matches.
