Before you even assume control of your character in Outbound, you’ll need to decide what kind of vehicle you want to use for your adventure. There are three vehicles available to choose from at the beginning of the game for standard players, with each one having its pros and cons for your adventure. The open world you’ll be exploring brings with it plenty of trials and obstacles to overcome, and that can have you wondering what stats should be prioritized. But which is the best vehicle to choose in Outbound? In this guide, I’ll run you through each vehicle to help you figure out which one is best for you.

What’s the Best Vehicle in Outbound?
There are three vehicles for players to choose from (unless you’ve got the School Bus Adventures DLC for the game, in which case you have a fourth). These are:
Classic: A solid all-around performer with a slightly higher ‘Building Space’ stat, an average ‘Carrying Weight’, and a slightly below average ‘Handling’ stat.
Pathmaker: Smaller in space, but unstoppable in the wild. It has a below-average ‘Building Space’ stat, a slightly above-average ‘Carrying Weight’ stat, and an above-average ‘Handling’ stat.
Big One: Spacious by design, made for comfort over speed. It has a nearly maxed-out ‘Building Space’ stat, an above-average ‘Carrying Weight’ stat, and a below-average ‘Handling’ stat.
Schoolie: This is a fully customized school bus ready for adventure that’s only available if you have the DLC. It has near maxed out ‘Building Space’ and ‘Carrying Weight’ stats, but below average ‘Handling.’
While these stats may seem like a big deal, their influence on the gameplay is pretty limited. That being said, I have found that being able to carry more and having more building space is significantly more useful than the handling of your vehicle. As such, I’d recommend opting for the ‘Big One,’ or the ‘Schoolie’ if you’ve purchased the School Bus Adventures DLC.
As all the vehicles feel a bit cumbersome to handle, you don’t really get any benefit from sacrificing the other two in favor of improving this stat by choosing the Pathmaker. Personally, I love to collect as much of every resource that I can get my hands on, so vehicles with a better ‘Carrying Weight’ stat align perfectly with my playstyle.
That being said, don’t feel too concerned if you’ve picked either the Pathmaker or Classic vehicles. As I noted above, their influence on the gameplay isn’t massive, and it’s by no means impossible to beat the game if you’ve chosen one of these instead. You’ll just need to adapt how you make your way across the open world depending on the stats of your vehicle.
