A 12-year-old boy was stabbed in his left arm Monday at a Bronx junior high school and police took an 11-year-old girl into custody, cops said.
The two had been arguing when the girl stabbed her classmate with a kitchen knife in PS/IS 218 Rafael Hernandez Dual Language Magnet School about 11 a.m., according to police.
The boy was taken from the school on Gerard Ave. near E. 167th St. to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.
Charges against the girl were pending.
The mother of a fourth-grade student at the school said late Monday afternoon the parents had not yet been officially informed of the stabbing.
“It’s horrible. Horrible. A sixth-grade girl stabbed another boy. I only found out through a group chat that a father put out,” said 37-year-old Milagros Martinez. “The principal said nothing. None of the people in charge said anything.”
A Department of Eduction spokesperson said the families of students involved in the stabbing were immediately notified, and counseling is being provided for affected students.
